An Interesting iPhone Clone from China

There is a very interesting iPhone clone from China - Meizu M8. This product was announced about 2 years ago when first generation of the iPhone was launched. Apparently it wasn't taken seriously when Meizu's boss, Jack Wong, casually announced it over at their Meizu Chinese forum.

Time has come and they have finally launched their first ever mobile phone. For those ignorant, Meizu is a well-known multimedia player from China having recently launched their latest player Meizu M6.

I have a chance to play with the phone today. I am impressed with the overall performance and responsiveness of the phone. I would have fork out SGD699 for the 8GB phone but knowing that it is a Windows Mobile afterall, I stopped short of doing that.

If you have seem the demo of the phone, you would probably thought that it's an iPhone. It was an almost perfect clone of iPhone, hardware and software too. It supports multi-touch and has a 3.2 MegaPixel camera with the photo viewer that works just like iPhone. The UI and Human Interaction works just like an iPhone and the performance is pretty sleek. However it is running on Windows CE. As the 3.4" screen has a pretty high resolution of 720x480 for a Windows Mobile devices, the WM softwares are incompatible with M8. Nevertheless Meizu has also released an SDK for the Chinese developers to develop software for the M8.

Actually if you visited their M8 site, you will probably see some familiarity with Apple's iPhone site too. I have no doubts that Apple will be going after them shortly.

Below is an overview review from MP4 Nation.

Looks like a really cool gadget. I wonder if it's going to pose a threat to Apple iPhone sales in China.

Getting Watch Maker and third party watch faces to work on an iOS connected Android Wear

Many people loves their Apple Watch, so do I. As Android Wear improves over the past year,  we started to take it seriously. I have got an Huawei Watch with cool round 400x400 pixel AMOLED display. It looks like a traditional watch with a glance at it. The cool thing about having an Android Wear is that you have access to tons of cool watch faces. Apple Watch is limited by the fact that it has limited selection build by Apple, no developer has been given access to build any watch face for it.

You must be wondering how do you connect your Android Wear to iPhone and get access to third party watch faces. The Android Wear iOS app provided by Google provides access to some limited selection of watch faces, you can't use any of those that are out there on the internet developed for Watch Maker or Facer.

Thanks to Kevin from XDA Forum, you are in luck now.

You can now install third party watch faces on your Android Wear and get connected to iPhone for notifications and Google Now. It may …

Why iPad

A lot have been said about the iPad, you would have already know what it have or have not. Just to re-cap, the iPad does not have USB port and webcam, it does not support java and flash. So why iPad when all these supposedly standards are not included?

First of all, iPad is not a computer. It's not intended to replace your PC or laptop. It serves as a in-between for your phone and PC. It's give you the convenience of instant start to your surfing habit, reading emails, ebooks, watching movies etc on your bedside, by the pool or on the plane, anywhere you can think of including your bathroom.

You do not have to worry about registry, 5 minutes to boot your PC, viruses and defragmentation. Your grandparents would have no problem with the device. My 71 years old father-in-law does not how to use a smartphone or a PC, however he is happily using the iPhone that I have given to him. Now with the iPad, he will have bigger screen and more full-fledged application. He will be able to us…
